Memorial Day at Belleau Wood

  Marine Corps Commandant General James F. Amos and more than 3000 Marines and sailors from European and U.S. commands along with thousands of French citizens, gathered a tthe Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in Belleau, France to honor the dead and missing of the WWI battle  of Belleau Wood.

The ceremony included memorial addresses by Gen. Amos and French Commander of Land Forces, Lt. Gen. Herve Charpentier and remarks by the mayor of Belleau Wood, Monique Benier, and Lt. Gen. John M. Paxton Jr. The ceremony also included the laying of wreathes, poetry readings, and performances by the French Army Band, the 'Commandant's Own' Drum and Bugle Corps, and the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.
